About:
Ph.D in Biochemistry, Emeritus Professor and Head of the Cell Biology Department
Research Interests:
Modulation by adenosine of the intermediary metabolism, focused on the energy metabolism.  Characterization and function of the circadian changes of adenosine in different tissues, blood, liver, brain and heart.  Utilization of adenosine as a tool for prevention, and understanding the mechanisms of acute and chronic hepatotoxicity induced with ethanol and carbon tetrachloride. Focused on cirrhosis and oxidative stress. Structural and functional remodelation of cardiac tissue after an experimental myocardial infarction.
